I just used a normal kit lens.

Extension tubes might be the way to go? I never thought of that one? :)

My first attempt at this kind of thing. portraiture is normally more my kind of subject. but stepping out of my comfort zone every now and again... cant be a bad thing? :)

Hi

Nice shot, and as said above Raynox lenses are well worth a look and a worthwhile addition to your kit lens, but only use them at the long end.

Also if buying one either the 150 or 250 and I would recommend the the 150 first, then have a look on Amazon rather than ebay, as they are about £10 cheaper on Amazon and if you buy it on ebay it will probably come from Amazon anyway and just cost you the extra £10 as ebay is now full of drop shippers that don't hold any physical stock.

Nice shot

Extension tubes first (if you buy a macro you will still use extension tubes ) you can never get close enough at first

If you do go down the dark route look into off camera flash units (if you do it right it wont cost you a lot there are suggestions on this forum of how to do it cheap) as this is the way to go with macro
