A nice selection.

Had a nice couple of hours out in the garden, and there is a real sense of Spring in the air. Just had a bit of fun, and spotted the first Crab spider in the centre of a Geranium flower:

Still a few painted Lady butterflies around, and this one sat in the right spot, but their wings are a bit ragged now:

A VERY TINY spider on a climber flower. Think it might have been another Crab, but it was only 1/4 the size of the first one!!:

And last, this one 'posed' for me too!!:

Nice series. Are your Painted Ladies residents, the ones we see over here arrive May/June from North Africa and yours appear to have a different wing pattern. I only ask because the tatty wings suggest it's over wintered.... therefore it could be resident. I don't know about your part of the world, but in the UK there are only about five or six species of butterflies that can over winter as adult butterflies all the rest over winter as a chrysalis.

Thanks, Terry, and John. The species only appears to migrate within Australia, John - down South for Spring and Summer, back Northward during Autumn/Winter. We have had heaps the last few weeks, and, although we have had some very frosty mornings, the days have been sunny, and they seemed to have enjoyed that!

PS: Should have added that this one's wings were quite faded in colour too.
