Or sunset over the blasted lands!

 

Most of this stretch of land between the blast furnace and the beach seems to be made up of clinker from the furnaces

The blast furnace is a few meters out of shot on the left of the road, so at the very least its the road alongside hell :-)

 

The road goes out to the lighthouse at the mouth of the Tees, not read any Jane Gardem, may have a look

In the third of the Old Filth trilogy, she mentions the industrial coastline and in particular the 'black diamonds' that people could beachcomb for as cheap fuel.
