My first bluebells ...

Recommended Posts

It 's a great time of year  reaping the rewards of hours  of  bulb planting last Autumn ....  battling  the odds  with rabbits squirrels and badgers who were  using my garden as a Gourmet Restaurant   most of the winter !😂

Over the past two years I have  planted just over 6000 bulbs in the garden ... this is the first bluebell  to show ... Jeez I hope it's not the only one !😟

Yeah ... I  hope to collect a study of  flowers  and plant life  this year  using  that lens ...  This  pic below however was  from my iphone 11 pro  which  shows just how much  phone cameras have improved  over the years ...

It  did take a lot to start it from scratch 29 years ago Fogey but it's mostly just pruning and grass cutting  now. The planting of so many bulbs was the result of us  removing some  of the  trees  and  making a small woodland walk  on our boundary   and  using the woodchips  from them to make a path through it  18 months ago. We now have an uninterrupted view towards the Clent Hills and a lot more light  to enable  the shrubs  to grow better as some were getting leggy in pursuit  of the light . This is part of the front garden  which faces South  and extends down to a  pond ...  The  back garden faces East and has  a lot more shaded areas....
