This wa before the clouds came in? The stars are sparkling there.

They certainly were! But yes, that cloud at the lower right came across a lot faster and further than I thought it would. This is the last shot from the 20 I took:

And literally a couple of minutes after I brought my camera indoors, it started to rain, so it worked out nicely really!

I have never tried   astral photography Kerry . I would have to do some homework   on what lens and settings to  use   but with the winter nights  drawing in maybe  it is something I should try .... Roger who used  to shoot stars before changing to birds was a terrific Astral Photographer  but he hasn't been on here for quite a while now .

These photos were with the Samyang 12mm F2 lens; I think I had it wide open. ISO was 1000, and 15 second exposure. On flickr, Denis (who said he was ex-TIPF) suggested 3200 ISO and 25 second exposure.

One of the guys from a photo group I'm in here in Southend does a lot of astro photography and his shots are usually based on a stack of 100-200 photos. I didn't have time for that the other night!

I haven't really got my head around stacking yet: I downloaded a program called Sequator but I haven't had great results with it so far...
