It took 2 hours of standing about in a reed bed in the freezing cold before I caught sight of this Bittern, I'd been told it was there but knowing how elusive they are I really didn't expect to even see it let alone get some shots. When it did eventually show itself I had about 10-12 seconds and that was it, back into the reeds it went.

annie... he looks as bl***y cold as I was..... was I glad to get back to my car (one mile) and get those damn waders off... and some heat on.
