Believe it or not there are at least a dozen living quite happily on Mallards Pike Lake in the Forest of Dean and there are several on the River Wye in Hereford.... I've seen the odd one elsewhere too. They must originate from escapees, I'm not sure where from though, I doubt it would have been from The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge as they are pretty careful about that sort of thing.

Brilliant John, they are such pretty birds.

 

We used to have access to two private lakes on a farm that had a fair few of these living on the water. Sadly the owner died and his nephew inherited the land and promptly sold it to a company that have now dug it all out for gravel...
