Shield Bug - Take off...

If anything I was a 1/250th a second late as the focus is ever so slightly off the eye, but still, first time I have ever caught a stink bug taking off...

Thanks folks - it was just luck really. I had the camera clicking here and there trying to get a decent image, and the shield bug (it's the green shield bug ) just suddenly took off as I was pressing the shutter button. You can't really predict the moment - it's too sudden.

I hadn't realised that they could fly.........it always amazes me how they, and other beetles and bugs manage considering how non aerodynamic their wing cases must be...........almost like flying a plane with the wing spoilers up?
