As you know, my SONY A55 has been fixed to a tripod for the last month or so......but...........being as I have finished digital archiving all those old glass negatives' I thought that I had better catch up with all you Bugsy folk.

I re-aquainted myself to the SONY 2.8/100 MACRO lens and DIY pudding basin Flash Diffuser..............it was late afternoon when I went hunting in our tiny front garden.

The bees were busy on this particular flower, this with the soft green background made for ideal in-camera composition, these are slight crops, both processed in my usual way then given a little targeted sharpening to enhance detail:

Great shots, I particularly like No 2.

Do you have the flash mounted on the camera for these?

Hi, Martin......Thank You!.....

Yes, I have a speedlight on the hot-shoe, with my favourite Macro settings on the camera of F11-16 and S160.......Fixed over the head of the flash is my DIY Pudding Basin Flash Diffuser......simply a opaque plastic six inch basin with a clip on lid, purchased  from Wilko's or any other like store..............

The baseof the basin is cut to fit tightly over the speedlight, leaving flaps like doors when you cut the opening with a hot knife blade (take great care here).....inside the basin lid is place a single layer of white kitchen towel which is cut slightly oversize so the lid grips it tightly....more layers can be added if required....I set the flash strength to suit ambient light, so s variable:

I'm sure that I posted full details with pics....I will try to find the post:

Here you go Martin...found it:
