Walking down a narrow path in Lancaster I passed a blocked off alley, I just had to stop and take a picture through the wire fence. After this I just couldn't help seeing other interesting doors.

Don't know if you noticed in the first picture, the door is blocked, there is a keypad and the security light is on. Security must be tight on platform 9 3/4!

That keypad looks very low.

Like the variety of textures in all of them, Martyn. Love the then & now contrast in the first with the security light etc, yes, I want to see round the door in the second, and the third, in general looks to be a pretty impressive wall!

It certainly is, it's part of Lancaster Castle!

It's round the back of the castle, to the left of the entrance for the magistrates court. I was actually going for a picture of the hanging doors where prisoners were dispatched from the drop room. Sadly there is little trace of this episode of the castles history from the outside. Since the castle is no longer a prison, the public is being granted more and more access to the interior, there was even a small christmas market inside last year but very few people knew about it.

I did my jury service in the drop room, didn't condemn anyone to hang though!
