No trickery here.  Just a lucky catch.  Never been sure whether this was worth posting until  the IR treatment finally made it for me but comments welcome.

Really lucky  to have caught so many  flying  with their wings in the same position ...no wonder you state that there is no trickery John ..Reminded me of the ceramic ducks that “graced “ the walls in parlours in the forties and early fifties at first .   I am trying to work out what made  you use IR treatment noted of mono  and  my conclusion is that the trees would have made the composition bottom heavy and unbalanced the whole image. . So I think  you have resolved that issue .  I am presently just viewing it on my iPad so will have another look when I fire up the iMac.    Was it the only image taken or were you in continuous mode when you pressed the shutter John ?   I really don’t know what the odds are of getting this shot but the must be pretty low..Well done though ... super image  John.

Thanks for commenting.  Their wings are all in slightly different positions.  It's quite an old image that I came across in trawling the archive.  Taken on  Nikon D7000 with a 70 - 300mm Nikkor lens fitted.   Shuttter speed was 1/1250 th sec. and I don't think I had progressed to using continuous shooting on the D7000 at that time.  However in looking for the original, I came across this one (which in retrospect, I quite like as well) so I must have taken several shots.

I prefer the formation of the geese in the first one.  I also agree the B&W / infra-red treatment works very well.

Superb mono, processing to get the best effect and to lose the trees...

I can just imagine the wireless traffic going on between the Squadron Leader and his wingmen.
