Our Summer friends are on the move...

Our 'Spring switch' will soon change to our 'Summer switch' as we have a couple of mid twenties temperatures coming in the next week. A nice sunny day today and I just caught a slight movement of something on the path outside the front door area. Went out for a look and saw one of our Summer friends, first one of the season. He was obviously one that was used to us because he didn't move even though I got a bit close:

He sat enjoying the warm stones for a while then wandered off across the path. Guess we're going to start seeing them again, which we don't mind.

Thank you David - yes, it can be quite easy not to see them against the natural background, and we always have to keep a very sharp eye out when we get the mower out, which we haven't done for almost 12 months, but we will have too again soon. The mate for life, so we will have to watch for his partner too!

He looks quite big. I think the lizards I've seen in the UK will be starting to hibernate, already in the evenings it's starting to get quite cool.

Nowhere near our biggest Rye, about 12 inches in length, but it isn't warm enough as yet for the really big ones. Our little skinks are on the move too, they like to sit on a warm stone, in the sun, but they move very quickly, so are not easy to catch.
