Lancaster Bomber

I just love this  aircraft ... ..  I agree with Gareth and like the aspect of the second image a bit more .... and maybe some lightening would  enhance it even more .. but both are good catches of an iconic plane ...

Thanks Gareth and Clicker, I've already lightened up both shots quite considerably compared to the original, but yes I know what you mean. I wasn't sure which direction they would come from or how many times they would circle the town centre, so I'd already committed myself to this spot

Mmmmmmmm !

I love seeing the whole Flight too........ The Lancaster was flown to Coventry for a full service about five years ago, I walked around four miles on a very hot day to take photographs, sadly none were as good as these....

Very well done Geoff.

Then...thinking about things...as an infant junior school kid I saw huge quantities of WWII aircraft for real.....I remember the gliders being towed on D-Day and soon afterwards.

I saw the very first British Jets too....many of those were built in Coventry factories, and tested from Bagington/Coventry Airfield.

I went to the earliest Airshows too....

Nice shots Rye.  I don't mind the exposure.  The second in particular has that dark threatening feel reminiscent of their war time role.  My only thought is that a slightly slower shutter speed would have produced some prop blur but it's easy to say that in retrospect.

Blackpool Air Show this W/E.   We normally see some of the exhibits over our house on the way in but not a sign.  The Red arrows normally do two days operating out of Warton Aerodrome and we live under the flight path but this year they aren't due until tomorrow.   However, the weather outlook looks grim and anyway they are due to perform over the isle of Man before coming in from the West so I think that I will be out of luck all round..

Just checked these out on my 27" iMac Rye and the exposure looks fine on there ... they looked a little dark on my iPadAir where I saw them initially  but that was in evening light mode, I realised afterwards ..Doh ....

I would have loved a bit more prop blur captured in camera, but it was a very bright day, so I over compensated for the fact it would be moving from various light conditions. It only circled twice and so was out of sight after 4-5minutes or so.
