The Band

A local band wanted some shots taken for their up coming album so we met this afternoon at their favourite pub.

Bit of a haphazard shoot as I was only asked last night and they hadn't really talked about styles - but - there was talk of Tom Waits, lots of mono and a bit of a laugh.

 

First few test shots, lots more taken which I'll send to them to choose from but you get the idea.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

All shot with a Nikon D300s - all processing with LR5 - borders added for web viewing as it wouldn't be me without them.

Like 1 and 3 (yes I know they are mono and i dont normally like mono but it suits so well)

But so sombre in expression but at the size of the room they are playing in I wouldnt expect less

Yes, number one is album cover material without a doubt.

no.1 and 3 for me,  can I suggest a little cloning/healing work on the ladys' nose (pic 1) as the shadow is spoiling it a little. Which brings me to a question... are you using any lighting here or are they all 'as is'.

Aye they all need a bit of a clean up - I was using a pair of Nikon SB600 flash guns remotely fired from the camera.

The pub was is use so I was fighting for Soave with punters, furniture, horrid light and a dog.

have to say the first three dont do a thing for me, but i love the rest !

Nos 1 and 4 for me. The smiling face balances out the serious expressions in the other mono ones.

These are excellent, particularly the colour shots. Like Annie says, very pro looking.

 

Is there a reason for going with mono for the indoor shots?

Tony the lead wanted a 'Tom Waits' feel and he tends towards mono. I was going to go mono for the whole lot but decided to show how the images would look with a bit of colour in them.
