Fishing and my Near Miss

Recommended Posts

We watched this Heron trying to catch his dinner in the River Avon in Stratford on Tuesday for quite some time and just as we were about to walk away, John said that he had got his fish.

I had no time to zoom or stand back to be able to fit him in the frame so just took a chance and pressed the button quickly.
As you can see, he was nearly a headless heron.

I was disappointed to say the least, but pleased that my reactions were a little quicker than usual.

Lesson learned not to get too close and practice more.

The times I have visited Stratford, and I have never seen a heron........it is so busy there, and herons are normally very shy.......I reckon that this one was very hungry?.......possibly related to all the poor weather we've been experiencing.

WELL DONE YOU!

Thanks everyone. I was pleased to get a few shots.

Fuji, he was up towards the wier where it was quieter. Some time her is past the turn style towards that long narrow path. He is usually on that bit of land in the middle of the river, but as you said, he must have been hungry this time as people were walking past and he didn't seem bothered by them.
