Stopping Smoking...

Recommended Posts

Well, after Saturday it was week 2, so now into the 3rd week, still no smoking, some days are easy than others... I've found eating grapes or cherries when I really feel the need to smoke helps me.... (I now need to kick my 500g a day grape habit....)

That is a real landmark Rye.. well done ... The longer you go  the  harder it will become to actually give in to the urge to just have one, because it will mean all the past two weeks have been for nothing. So the balance of power starts to return  to  you having control  again . Big pat on the back Geoff  ... You wont regret doing this ...

Sounds like you are doing well Rye - I don't know how difficult it is from a personal point of view, because I have never smoked, but I have known friends who have struggled and eventually got through. Keep up your good work and resolve to achieve your goal - it will pay off!

Thanks everyone, when I first stopped, I was counting by the hour, then days, now I'm counting by weeks, after 1 month I'll start counting by months instead... I think the hardest part was those first few initial days after I'd decided to give up (and slowly cut down), but still had some tobacco in the house... Yes, there's still times when I really want one, but I know the minimum rolling tobacco you can buy now is 30 gram - I never did like regular cigarettes - and it costs £10-12 per pouch. To be honest, it's that £10-12 a go that's stopping me.

Also I've set up a standing order at my bank to transfer £20 a week into my savings account - which I don't have a card for, so have to go into Santander Branch to draw out from... I might increase it over the coming year.... I've set my mind to not smoking again and I'm pretty strong willed when it comes to things like that...
