10,000 Steps Before Breakfast

Recommended Posts

Just as the title says I went for a walk this morning but because it was fabulous outside, bright, sunny, clear sky and frosty, the dog and I went on our long route over Cleadon Hills then along the coast.

How do I know it was 10k steps - my Apple Watch keeps a track of exercise and gives me regular updates so when I got back in and settled down for breakfast - bacon butties if you're interested - I got a ping to let me know how I'd done.

These haven't had all the usual farting about I typically do, just a quick blitz through LR and a resize for posting as they're more to do with the walk.
At the end of our street I typically head right through some garages, along a couple of side streets and onto the fields down to the beach you've all seen a million picture of. If I turn left I quickly come to a farm through which a footpath runs up onto Cleadon Hills. I can go right over them and come to the coast a couple of mile along from Whitburn so its then a nice wander back along the cliffs, nature reserve and beach back home. All in all its 5.7 miles of varied countryside and today half a dozen pictures to help tell a tale...

There was a nice frost on the grass, leaves and the fence posts with an early and still very low sun lighting it up beautifully.

The fields which are usually oil seed rape or wheat are only just sowed and look amazing with the low sun showing all their lines.

The highest point, looking back the way I had come towards Whitburn with Sunderland on the horizon.

The ponies are back. The local council are running a trial rot see if they can keep the grasses neat without the need to go up and cut it mechanically. The idea is wild flowers etc should flourish and the whole hills will look better while providing a great natural diversity.

Over the top and you head out towards the coast with views right up towards Blyth. This is one of two ferries that go to the continent daily and its a fair size if you compare it to the lighthouse at the end of South Shields pier with is 49 foot high.

Back closer to home is Souter Lighthouse which has just undergone a quick renovation. I just liked the line of blokes taking down the scaffolding.

Theres a bit more after this where I pass a nature reserve and end up at Jacky's beach but you've seen it all before and I didn't take picture this morning as frankly by this point I was starving

That is a decent walk, especially before breakfast...and on a weekday too!  Again, a good mix of scenes and subjects to inspire.

Due to the time I start sometimes in the mornings, a daily constitutional like this is way out of the question.
