Fresh Air and Fun...

My eleven year old grandson, Jonathan, is developing an interest in shooting video and with his encouragement, I decided I'd have a go too.

A few days ago, Mrs K and myself drove across to Blackpool and spent around 4 hours walking from south to north and back again. I shot around 120 video clips on my Fuji X30 and then spent a LOT of hours getting to grips with iMovie. Here's the result.

My technique is somewhat dodgy and there are a great many shortcomings, but it was fun to do and I think I may have another go at some stage.

The title, btw, is taken from the famous monologue 'The Lion and Albert'.

Oh really well done Korky .... You really showed the essence of the  Blackpool that people associate with that iconic tower and the reputation the town has with the good old British day trip . I am really impressed... I can see howmuch thought has gone into the compositional staging of your shots and can appreciate just how much work you have put into this .., really you should take a bow... You can start doing travelogues and documentaries as from NOW .. WELL DONE !:respect:

Cecil B De Korky!

Brilliant! just Brilliant!

beautifully observed, shot and edited, it equals anything I've see on proper TV..........It is just amazing what can be produced with almost any digital camera today.

Your editing and timing to the music couldn't be better.......Love our George too.

I will return to this if I need cheering up.

Wondered about that too BP ... But is there an expiry time on that .... Regardless  I think you have done an amazing job Korky ... You must be feeling pretty damned chuffed with yourself with the result ... I am more than impressed with your editing skills ... I know how time consuming this is  ... Great job!

Thanks for the kind comments, everyone. Much appreciated. To be honest, I really enjoyed putting these clips together and it's highly likely I'll be having another go.

I assumed the Formby song would be out of copyright. My understanding was 50 years, but I'm informed it's now 75 years so I'm puzzled.

Never mind 'the puzzle' about the song, Korky - it is brilliant and fits so perfectly with what you have put together, so it's great that it wasn't a problem.

Loved looking at this. Really captures the essence of the place and is put together beautifully - took me back many years too!!!!!!

I'll certainly be back for another look - well done, and thanks for sharing your wonderful effort :D:D

Thanks, Dee - glad you like it. It really was the most fun I've had with a camera in years.

I now have plans to make another fillum, hopefully it'll have a lot less camera shake. I've discovered a monopod I'd forgotten I had, so that's been drawn into service.

Spielberg eat yer heart out!

Chris - Over the last few years, £millions have been spent on Blackpool's sea front and a brand new tram system has been put into service (for some reason, last week they had a number of the old trams running and that suited my purposes perfectly), but it's still Blackpool and, in spite of the tackiness, it's loved by many thousands of visitors every year. At the moment they're pouring in for the lights and no doubt spending shedloads of dosh.

I have mixed feelings about Blackpool - it's a great place to bimble around with a camera and there's some great chip shops, but would I stay longer than a few hours? Nah!

Although......... Mrs K and myself went to the Tower Circus a couple of months ago (a BOGOF with a Kellogg's voucher) and we had a brilliant afternoon.
