But it is a Bat ....  A Pipistrelle I think .It was just under  2 inches long... I found  this yesterday on the wall when I went to water some plants ... It stayed there   for about 7 hours  then flew off at dusk.. It the first time I have been that close to one that isn't flying ...

I have never seen one close up before or ever seen them clinging to a wall in plain view like this either, an exhausting nights hunting looks to have taken its toll !

I wondered if was a youngster as a single pup is born to the mother and suckled for six weeks before it becomes” independent “ . Apparently they usually appear about July every  year ... I was really surprised too...   it actually looked quite cute close up ....     but it’s still not a kingfisher is it ??

Yes I read that earlier this week  John ...  I got a bit worried as I chipped a tooth this week and it looked very “fang” like till a trip to the dentist   .. hubby suggested he take a pic of me with  the bat  ... saying I looked like Mrs Dracula ?!!!!    He’s  got an ice pack to help with the swelling .....?
