POTW - 7th October

Black Pearl

Recommended Posts

A new forum - A new start - A new POTW - not that there's any pressure or anything.

There is no way I can capture the forum in a single shot this week as it really is flying, everyone has pulled together and its getting back to what it was - a place to come and enjoy images, have a laugh and be friends.

So what I'm going to do is go back to the very core of the POTW ethos - I'm going to pick an image I love.

There are so many great images this week that I'm not going to say this is the best, I'm not going to say its better than any other it is simple the one I want to frame and put on my wall.

Picture Of The Week then:

See it here.

great shot, can I ask if the colours are natural or have you used a filter?

I'm also wondering if each potw winner should be encouraged to give details on their picture such as processing etc which might help others to try something similar?

thanks everyone, such an honour being the first to be picked on the new site, hope to have some more good photos that will be in contention in the coming months.

as mentioned by colinb here is what i can remember about the shot-

camera- canon 40d

lens- sigma 17-70mm dc macro os + polarizer

manual setting, f3.5, iso 100, shutter speed 1/320 sec

as it was taken some time in august around 5.30am, i can't really remember except that i may have used a tripod, first time using the lens as i bought it for weddings to give me a wider range over the 18-50mm lens.

i shoot in RAW and convert to jpeg using the canon digital photo professional software that came with the camera, before converting i normaly adjust the brightness and add a touch of contrast and sharpness to the image. when a jepg in photoshop i may adjust the levels before ending up with the final image.

hope this is of some help to those that may need it, the adjustments are normal practice for me so they tend to come automaticaly when viewing my images out of camera.
