In an effort to give myself a swift and sharp boot up the photographic pants I've been trying out some painterly effects in Photoshop.

I've dialled it down to light and fluffy rather than wanging it up to thick and heavy and I'm pretty pleased with the results.

I seem to have lost the oilpaint filter in the newer versions of photoshop .... ... Some cool effects there Mr K ....but   I absolutely love the wicker image  especially... .. really well seen, composed and processed ..

I'm not a fan of this sort of processing - but - for its type you have a very good eye for getting just the right amount of jiggedy bits to give the image a bit of life.

As ever I am in complete awe of the  colour, contrast and the overall look you achieve with your file handling.

Polly - Have a look in the 'Stylize' filter list and if Oil Paint is greyed out just go to PS Preferences > Performance and check the little box next to Use Graphics Processor. The oil paint filter should now be available when you go back to the Filters > Stylize menu.

Aw thanks Korks... I’ll give that a whirl as I have missed that for certain images ....

The Redfield Fine Touch Plugin also produces some nice 'painterly effects' especially if you blend it as a layer with the original image (it's also free but no Mac version).

Some nice images with your usual signature processing....
