Everything posted by Paul

  1. There was I think 4 flying and landing, could have been 5, but they are so delicate! Paul.
  2. Better than a Canon 100mm I reckon Gareth... Paul.
  3. Paul

    4 insects

    Thank you kindly Paul
  4. A lovely capture of the male though Geoff. Paul.
  5. Nice. Magpies are more colourful than we think. Paul.
  6. The zoom might have got you a closer view, but if I was birding, I'd not be looking for the dams either Paul.
  7. I said the tree was fruitful last night - these are more of the discoveries... Ladybird prep, a caddis fly variant (Limnephilus flavicornis) and another sleeping tapered dronefly (Eristalis pertinax) and 2 different green lacewings. Paul.
  8. The apple tree was fruitful last night (more in other thread). Here are the first few - a vapourer moth caterpillar, a golden tortix moth, and 2 spiders. Paul.
  9. Thanks Dee - folk I speak to say they liked how the start, middle, and finish had a natural flow. Paul.
  10. Thanks Dee. I think it's popular for the fact that a 40 mile boat ride without faffing around with going through locks is appealing to boat owners! Paul.
  11. Paul

    4 insects

Thanks Cheryl. The smallest is the snout mite which was between 1 & 2mm in size, but they constantly move - I got two reasonable photos, this being the better one. Paul.
  12. Paul

    4 insects

    Bug season approached Geoff Paul.
  13. Good depth of field Gareth. Hyperfocal distance I assume? Paul.
  14. I'd say #4 has the most appeal. The greasy bit adds a bit. Paul.
  15. Paul

    Heat Haze

There's not as much haze I thought there would be. Nice 'planes though. Paul.
  16. 4 bugs (with ID's (correct hopefully) from last night... Heterocordylus tibialis (capsid) - Psectrotanypus varius (non biting midge) - Bedellidae (snout mite) & a Syrphidae (hoverfly) sleeping under a leaf. Paul.
  17. Drones were never a thought until that competition. I'd barely even read anything about them to be honest. It's sure different though1 Paul.
  18. On a sunny but gusty afternoon, I flew around Moons Bridge Marina - a family run marina offering secure country moorings for over 100 boats on the Lancaster Canal. The Jackson family have been at Moons Bridge for over 20 years. Moons Bridge Marina is a minor waterways place between the Ribble Link - Lancaster Canal Junction and Lodge Hill Junction (Junction with Lancaster Canal - Glasson Dock Branch). The Lancaster Canal was planned at the end of the 18th century and was intended to run from Westhoughton to Kendal, however the full length was never completed. In 2002 the Millennium Ribble Link at Ingol in Preston was opened which finally, after a 200 year delay, connected the canal to the River Ribble and therefore access to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. Stretching for over 40 lock free miles, the Lancaster Canal winds its way from Tewitfield in the north to Preston in the south. Music: Drifting by Enya. Paul.
  19. Good series Geoff - would even suit "brown photographs"... Paul.
  20. She's still well looked after Geoff Paul.
