  1. Round of applause, massive congrats. Keep us informed, they are amazing images
  2. That boy/man is amazing, worth a youtube on him
  3. bear in mind that a fair amount of second hand stuff has been well looked after too - MPB Photographic seem good
  4. Possibly why I still use the Chinon I got from Dixons for my 18th birthday
  5. helps keep up to date with family all over the world, if you don't friend the plonkers you never really see them - all depends on how you control and use it really
  6. This same thing surfaces on a regular basis. Someone said it was started when google+ realised it wasn't winning :-) Most sites have a similar way of dealing with the info you give them, as do most businesses in general.
  7. Welcome, lots of helpful bods on here, I know what you mean about the whole set up thing - I find it a cathartic process almost to the extent that the image is unimportant :-)
  8. even the shutter noise is special! massive step from the 500D, just feels right in my hands, no heavier than the 40D (to me) but feels like it would survive an apocalypse. first impressions are more than good :-)
  9. Here's a top tip, never go play with expensive cameras, I appear to own a 7D
  10. I recently sold some stuff, still got more to go, and I've seen a Canon 7D, body only for £500, I'll probably sell the 500d and all the stuff I no longer use - might keep the 40D and have it IR converted. Looked at the 70D, too much stuff I have no use for, cant afford full frame, like the idea of a bit of weather resistance plus, my mother is going to have some of my stuff blown up and printed to sell Question is, would I be doing the right thing? Am going to have a feel of one tomorrow, but I suspect my shovelly hands will not have a problem with the size
  11. Welcome, from an exile in Teesside, like has been said, lots of people with good advice on here some good stuff on your flickr

    Its Here

those dials are special - be really interested to see what it produces. I've just found my first SLR camera, bought in Dixons in the Metro Centre for my 18th, 29 years old and I'm running a film through it now - its exciting :-)

    POTW w/e 02/11/14

I'd missed that, lovely shot, well done
  14. Hell yes, but people get burgled - just wonder if it would be any sort of deterrent, or even help get thieves nicked
  15. stick "lenstag" into google for a better description, its basically a chap has set up a site where you can log your gear so if it gets whipped it can be identified via serial numbers, I could see it being useful if the serial number was in an advert - wonder if it shows in metadata - I suppose anything could help
  16. Could always rent a 17-40 - I did when I was trying to decide what to get - I've a Sigma 10-20 (price was a factor, as always) - Actually, you're probably close enough to borrow it for a go if you wanted My problem (at first) was I tended to get my foot in the shot!! it really is wide :-)
  17. Has anyone seen the "Lenstag" thing to try and stop stolen gear being re-sold? Think its any good?
