    Hiya

Hello, Derek - welcome to TIPF. Great to have yet another Yorkshireman on board! Korky
  2. No good asking me for advice, Graham - I agree fully with Martyn in that it's not the kit you have, but what you do with it that matters. For the last year or so, 90% of my pics have been taken on either an iPhone or a Fuji HS30 - and I kicked CS4 in touch in favour of Photoshop Elements. And........ I fully realise that doesn't answer your question - but I've nowt else to occupy me this afternoon. Korky
  3. I had a Lubitel and had great fun with it. It led to owing a Yashicamat and then a Mamiya. Those were the days, and yes, the Soviet kit was super value and it produced great results, but I so prefer digital doin's. I love my current cameras and my Mac so much more than I ever loved the Lubitel. Korky

    POTW w/e 29/12/13

Well done, Colin - a worthy winner! Korky
  5. Do you still have the negative? Could we er........ see another print perhaps? Purely for artistic reasons of course. Korky
  6. Excellent work - very well done! Korky
  7. Glad you liked it, Fooj. A friend and I had a Flash Gordon DVD weekend a few years ago - we had a bottle of Glenlivet rather than fizzy pop, but it was along the same lines. We enjoyed it muchly, the series is so bad it's brilliant! Korky
  8. For those of you that remember the Saturday morning flicks... Korky http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cohW2w7_6I
  9. A real winner - well done! Korky
  10. OK, so I watch the video and what happens? The camera doesn't lie, so take a look at our yard after I got back from the animal shelter. Thanks, Fooj - you've made me a better person! Korky
  11. I love animals too. And that's why I'm not watching this video. First of all, I'll get upset. Then, in order to cope with my distress, I'll drink three bottles of Polish beer and a bottle of Shiraz. Then I'll get all sloppy and maudlin. Next I'll get out the laptop and do a Goggle on animal shelters. I'll find one that's not too far away and I'll start browsing all the sad looking animals that need a good home. Then I'll have a little man-cry and polish off two more bottles of Polish. Back at the laptop I'll sign up to give a home to three spaniel puppies, a cat with a wooden leg and two bloody donkeys. I'm not watching this video. Sorry! Korky
  12. I know nowt about the technical aspects of sensors, but back in my Pentax K1000 days I would regularly use Kodak Tri-X pushed to 1600 ASA. In those days I wanted grainy, contrasty images, but now I'm not so sure. Interesting to compare this Christmas street with Bill's image taken in Lincoln s few days ago. Perhaps in the 80s shopping wasn't quite so popular. Korky
  13. The mono big wheel shot is the one for me - it really does have a surreal look about it. I can see why you thought it might not work (I'd have avoided it too) but sometimes, just when they're least expected, things can turn out to be surprisingly surprising Serendipity! Korky

    POTW 8th December 2013

It would have been my choice too. Well done! Korky

    Camera club

Now that's a cat shot that even I like. Those eyes are what makes it into a winner and separates it from all the rest. But....... Why, oh,why did you call the poor little sod Fluffy? All the tough street moggies in Bolton are just going to take the p*ss and steal his dinner money. And it's your fault. Korky
  16. It's that time again, so I thought I'd recycle this one from a few years ago. Korky Click image to view large
  17. I love 'em, but have to agree with BP in that the tilt thingy needs to add to the impact to an image. Korky One of mine....
  18. Very nice indeed - well done that mature togger! Korky
  19. Two great links - thanks, both. Since I posted this query, I've tried PSE without having Elements Organiser loaded as well and things seem just as they should be. Makes me suspect it's Organiser that's the fly in the ointment. Korky
  20. Anyone upgraded to Mavericks? Anyone experiencing speed issues? Since my upgrade to the new OS, Elements 12 is performing summat chronic. It slows to a crawl and even a simple mouse click can take 20 seconds before a response. It's happening on both the iMac and the MacBook even though both machines have fast processors (i5 & i7) and 16Gb RAM. PSE 12 is 64 bit and can access as much RAM as you can chuck at it. Anyone any ideas? Is it possible to ditch Mavericks and return to Mountain Lion? Korky
  21. Hello, BB - welcome to the forum. I shouldn't worry about not knowing what you're doing, we were all there at some time. The trick is to enjoy taking pictures and learn from the mistakes. Korky
  22. A great share, Paul - thank you. Up and running on my MacBook in no time - I shall explore over the next few days. Korky

    POTW 24/11/2013

A great image - very well done! Korky
  24. Some terrific photojournalism and strong stuff indeed - strangely, the one that stopped me in my tracks was the image of the little boy smoking a cigarette. Korky
