Mural, from Indian territory
Andyandhazel replied to markknittle61's topic in Urban and Architecture
They are probably great to see person but very hard to capture as an image due to their size. -
Good lighting on that image.

Thanks guys. Have been looking back through the forums to see what everyone has been taking.

Like those Rye very good. That's exactly the sort of thing I would look for when out.

Another good use of the rails as leading line into the picture. You are quite lucky to be able to get this access.

Nice set Rye Like number 3 which shows good details. Never really a big fan of seeing engines run tender first but understand why it happens on heritage lines.

I like this photo a lit. Well done.

Vintage lens for a vintage rose

Lovely soft rose photo. You could get some good soft focus portraits with that. -
Yes very lucky to get track side in England. Although my wife took a cracking one at Didcot Railway centre where the trains run on separate fenced off track so you can walk on the old lines

That is mentioned on one of the plaques that is there.

Came across this purely by accident when going for a drive whilst in Devon. My dad had told me about it years ago and I have also read the book about Ken Small whom recovered the Sherman Tank and preserved it as a monmorial to the service men that died whilst practising for D Day Landing. This Sherman sank whilst in the sea as there was an inspection cover loose and it filled the tank with water. All 4 crew members got out ok. The area around Slapton was commandeered and all residents had to leave the area with very little notice so the Americans could practise landings on the beach as it was similar to Omar Beach

Thanks for the comments it can be very busy in summer. We went there in the evening to avoid some of the crowds. The fish and chips were indeed very good especially when sat on the quay side

Really like the boat ones, the sort of photo Hazel is keen to take. -
Great photos. Never been to Scotland really think we should.

Very good dramatic skies

Good photo there Rye. Taking a small area in isolation can be a lot more interesting than the whole.

My fault as i saved the images too small. Was trying a different method of saving and ........ I will have a look tonight after work and save in a better size.

Here a few from early May visit. We wanted to get out and take a few photos and found that the Watercress line had a 2-8-0 weekend on with 2 guest locos. So went down to Alton Station for a couple of hours. LMS 48305 GWR 2857 Andy

Hi all thank you for your kind comments on my photos. I was going for something different rather than here's a photo of an engine and another one etc. Clicker, in answer to your questions it is no and no. My camera has no articulated screen and my knees are shot. However I have just purchased a sturdy Manfrotto Monopod Hazel. Ps Andy said he will leave a double line space next time.

Yes Didcot is special in that the working trains are on 2 separate fenced off lines, so you are free to wander around the rest of the yard and sheds, apart from the main repair area for safety reasons. This is what allows some interesting and very upclose angles.
