  1. We were directed by our landlady to some of the loveliest scenes and views......... We eventually arrived at a very pretty village called Benngelert that has a myth/history attached to it. In Welsh the name means the grave of Gelert https://www.historic-uk.com/HistoryUK/HistoryofWales/The-legend-of-brave-Gelert/.

  3. Just back from Snowdonia. This must be the most photgraphed tree in the UK. Located on Llyn Padarn, Llanberis, this tree is surviving some of the most extremes of weather.
  4. Never apologise for good photography Polly.....A lovely set. Swansea Bay followed by Rhossili Bay for me.
  5. This is going to be difficult to put into words. I prefer the washed out version to the colour - but I don't exactly like the washed out version. I'll try to explain...........the reflections of the clouds in the water just doesn't gel for me and I'm not sure how that can be overcome. Maybe a little more contrast in the cloud to make them stand out, then reflect that in the sea? The mole, left of frame is perfect and is the focal point leading the eye into the scene and then the image becomes a little bland, for me. Perhaps a little more structure to the boats and figures to make them stand out...... maybe the sand bars as well, just to break up that whiteness, then the cloud reflections would make sense. Just my thoughts, Polly. The water colour theme is very sound and I agree .........I'm having difficulty with seeing and looking as well.
  6. Polly, you are becoming a master of understatement. That inverted image is breathtaking.
  7. Camp Coffee? Takes me back to the fifties when days were long and sunny and I didn't have a care in the world. A great set!
  8. Well, I think the castle is a belter of a shot. I do like the soft focus - I'm not sure I can put into words what it is about the image that stirs me, but I like it - lots!
  9. A bit like an adult sitting in a supermarket trolley.
  10. I like them both - the preference being the castle. Great use of perspective in an otherwise flat image.
  11. Welsh dragon? My ex missus. Nicely caught.
  12. The last image is an absolute belter, Polly........there are no other words for it. How long did you have to wait for that scene to develop?
  13. I was using my all in one Nikon 18-300 mm lens, Clicker.
  14. Thank you. Yes they do have beautiful coats. I was really taken with this particular animal.
  15. Thank you. You are right Polly. This beautiful animal was in a meshed cage. The cage which was on three different levels connected by boughs that acted like bridges for the Leopard, and was in a deep shadow of trees, with the light filtering through. Something caught the attention of the cat and I was taken with the catchlight in the eye, even through the mesh wire. I took a deliberately under exposed shot to minimise the presence of the wire mesh, with the intention of cloning out the mesh in front of the subject. Well, it took a year to get round to it and some 6 hours work in PP. Once I cloned out the foreground mesh, I muted the background mesh to dramatise the image. The foliage was on the outside of the cage.
  16. Hmmm! Both are much punchier.........The first, I think. The second seems a little overdone. You could, of course, get the effect you want with masking in ACR.
  17. Thinking about your OP. I think I prefer the colour version........ the monochrome, to me, appears too bland. I think a little structure to the tones would be of benefit. Just my thoughts.
  18. Why, thank you Polly. I'm currently thinking about revamping the site. I'm working on a slider for the landing page that is made up from slides that link to sliders showing different genres of photography. I can't decide whether or not I should keep it simple or go for the elaborate.
  19. I had no idea that Herons were so colourful. Taken at Wisley Gardens.
  20. I prefer the third image - in colour.
  21. "I think that I shall never see a poem lovely as a tree". Joyce Kilmer.
