    A sad day

Sorry to read this Fuji. It's hard and there is no way around it. We have always had dogs and the reminders still keep coming. But it gets easier as time goes on.
  2. Came across this youtube review of some third party fully auto extension rings. Covers Fuji X in particular but they are available for other cameras/mounts. They get the thumbs up and at a fraction of the price of the FUJI offerings, I thought they might be of interest to some on here. I've also included the AMAZON UK link for the product but they may well be available elsewhere. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wy9tPgueipU https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07544FQXM/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3QFA278FDYCW5&linkCode=sl1&tag=damibrowphot-21&linkId=73d7525dce600d7876ae882cc6111325
  3. Received an e-mail today with he attached offer. Thought others might be interested given the 70% discount. I have the De Noise, Colour Projects and B/W projects and find them very good, particularly the De noise package. I have also tried their stacking software and compared it to the built in PS cc capability and found PS to be better by some way. http://newsletter.franzis.de/u/gm.php?prm=faKrjtOLEL_279275014_2074278_46576
  4. Nor me. Not even for a photo opportunity.
  5. Colin, don't let my post above put you off. The problem I describe is by no means universal. If it does occur, it's a slight inconvenience but otherwise I haven't detected any other glitches. The fact that others do not have the problem suggests that it is more to do with an incompatibility with my particular system rather than a problem with the download.
  6. Thanks for that BP. I hadn't realised that the plugins folder has been retained even though the I was too slow to uncheck the "delete previous versions" box when I updated. Except for one issue, all is now working and in the case of Nik, better than before. The issue is around the time it's taking the main PS CC screen to develop. It stays greyed out and the drop down menus remain inoperable for about 20+ secs. after the image appears. It also takes a similar amount of time to close down after coming out of ACR. Seems to be a well observed problem. The only solution I have found on the WEB is to open both Bridge and PS as administrator. That definitely helps but you have to set it up anew each time. I suspect Adobe in their usual fashion will ignore the current cries for help and quietly implement a fix at sometime in the future.
  7. Update: Sorted. I was able to add the PP CC 2018 Plugin folder to the drop down target box using the + button at the bottom. .....and there is a plus. I struggled with most of the NIK plugins under PP CC2017 because I had the fairly common freeze problem. There was a workaround but it slowed the software right down. That has now gone and the Nik plugins all work perfectly.
  8. Just Installed Photshop 2018 and Bridge 2018. First thing that I have found is that nik plugins are missing. When I try to re install them, PS CC 2018 doesn't appear in the target software box.!!
  9. That is worth knowing BP. Thanks for adding it. I haven't used it often enough to spot any oddities. I should set some time aside to understand some of these other aspects.
  10. Kev., I leave both set to zero on my X-T2 simply because instinctively, I prefer to PP files in Photoshop CC from scratch. My workflow is to save in Lossless Compressed RAW, with Sharpening and Noise reduction set to zero. I do however, set Long Exposure NR to "on" and occasionally, when I'm shooting in bright sunlight, I will increase the dynamic range (if I remember ). However, I can't say this is the optimum approach because I haven't experimented enough but it seems to produce good results. There are two web sites that I stay in touch with. They are Fuji Rumours and Fuji Film insider (links below). The Rumours sight is good for just that. He seems to have developed some good contacts but unless your in the market for the latest gear, that will be of little interest. None the less, both sites make a point of trawling the WEB for Fuji based articles and there have been articles from time to time of the "My Fuji Settings" variety which you might find helpful. Searching both sites to see what comes up against "My Fuji Settings" or say "Setting up my X-T2" might be worthwhile. The Fujifilm Insider site is like a magazine and is also a good read from time to time. https://www.fujirumors.com/ https://flipboard.com/@tmenk/fujifilm-insider-43dhdvlny
  11. Elephant and batter pudding? Is that like toad in the hole only on a bigger plate?
  12. Glad you've seen the light. (Pun intended.)
  13. I'm new here but sorry to hear about your woes none the less. I can only add as someone who has already retired, don't give up on the photography. It's a mind saver.
  14. I'm seeing an odd problem and wondered if anyone had any advice. A couple of weeks ago, Photoshop CC wouldn't always open up from Bridge except after several tries. It was also slow to close down from Adobe Raw. The problem now seems to have moved in that it now opens fairly readily from Bridge and closes immediately from Adobe RAW but once the PS screen has opened, there is now a delay affecting the RHS menus, the histogram in particular. It can take about 30 secs to fully write the screen. I've no doubt that things will revert at some stage because I have come across these cyclic problems before. My best guess is that its a memory problem which depends on how PS CC is using memory at any given time but before I start down the track of a lengthy MemTest cycle (32GB of memory), I thought I would ask the question. Anyone any ideas?
  15. Hello there, nice to see you. Just joined as well and it is a very welcoming community.
  16. I envy you your talent Fuj. Art worth appreciating, of that there is no doubt. I particularly like the second of the first three. The character of the subject seems to come across so well.
  17. Thanks RyeWolfe, thanks Kate.
  18. Watched it on I Player. Incredible!
  19. You can say that again Clicker. Thanks Korky. Is the X30 your main camera. It produces some astonishing results for a smaller sensor.
  20. Thanks all for the welcome. I liked what I saw on this site and so I'm looking forward to being here. Not much more to say Clicker. I'm married to a very patient wife who isn't a photographer but puts up with my passion (photographic that is). She s a ceramic artist in her own way. She exhibits and sells but is not commercial. Good enough though to have been selected for inclusion in an ongoing ceramic workshop that runs at the University of Lancs. (UCLAN). I carry a camera when I'm out as a matter course just in case and so my output is fairly all embracing. If I have a leaning these days it's towards wildlife when the opportunity presents itself and I have the time to sit and wait. fuzzy, I use an X-T2 with various lenses and have recently upgraded from an X70 to an X100F as a carry all. Couldn't get on without a VF in bright light when I had the X70 although it produced some excellent results. I'm sold on mirrorless because what you see in the EVF is what you get much more than with an DSLR and because of the weight/space advantage.
  21. Found this site by accident looking for something else some time ago. It looked attractive - particularly well organised and active - so I popped a link into my Favourites file which I then found by accident looking for something else the other day. I live in Preston and see that I am not alone in that respect. Been interested in Photography most of my life. Like so many, early interest (mono and darkroom) was curtailed as a career took over but retirement re launched my interest into the digital age. I like all photography and so master of none. I'm a Fuji user having abandoned a longish association with Nikon. I'm looking forward to joining in.
