  1. Interesting. The explanation is really helpful and drew my attention to the crescent shaped shadows. At first glance I thought it was just dappling from leaves.
  2. Wow, that’s a surprise, thank you for choosing it for POTW, Hatter. And thank you everyone for your congratulations.
  3. I can imagine walking home late at night wearing shoes like that (tortuous) and just leaving them behind.

Appreciate your industry and skill. Bet your wife is pleased. Walnut is a dark wood, I think. Did you stain it at all?
  5. Great set. If I was going to print one to put on my wall, I’d choose #2 for the composition.
  6. Hmm, pedipalps? I looked them up. so much to learn..
  7. Thank you Paul. I was hoping you’d be able to identify it. I looked up Larinioidescornutus. How do u know it’s a female?
  8. This tiny spider was living on a sweet pea flower. Laowa 60mm lens with Mieke twin flash. I'm ignorant about spiders so any suggestions about identification very welcome.
  9. Thanks Geoff, That leaves me wondering who left the white ladies high heel shoes outside your house and why? I haven't seen the photos you took with them on misty Pendle Hill but would like if you could be bothered posting them. I'm told that shoes hanging on a power line outside a place is a sign that you can purchase illicit substances within. A colleague from the Netherlands now living in Australia thought it was waste of good shoes and money. I haven't thought of the cost, nor have I tried knocking on the door.
  10. I like this set especially the second one with the old nails.
  11. That's all very interesting. I feel like I should know but I don't - what is DAZ3D?
  12. Great set, Vanguard. These fungi species look the same as the ones we see in central Victoria, Aust.
  13. Some great photos, Paul. Photographing weddings are stressful, in my opinion and you did well.
  14. Intentional Camera Movement - Inside St Paul's Cathedral Melbourne
  15. Gorgeous warm colours. I agree with Clicker & Ryewolf on preferring the third. Is Polzeath in the UK?

Thanks for the comments, Polly. The angle of the head, looking down the beak is very reminiscent of a disapproving school mistress. A perfect description! Of all the photos I’ve taken of Australian Ravens, I only have two where the raven is front on: this one with the head cut off; and another showing the whole head but less sharp. They generally avoid looking directly at me, I’ve noticed. This one was quite bold. It was one of a pair living in Brachina Gorge in outback South Australia where people sometimes camped. We were woken by the sounds of them searching for food amongst last night dishes. We camped there a couple of days and I get lots of photos of their behaviour. I’d prefer not to crop the head and could make a composite of the two photos and add a pair of spectacles. Stay tuned.
  17. What a great story, Paul. What is your new lens exactly?
  18. There’s a spider named Rabbit Hutch spider? Great photo as always Paul
  19. Great set of photo for sure: clean and crisp with good colour.
  20. I love these scenes and so we’ll captured. #4 is my fav. Where in Wales is this?
