  1. I think it was first coined during the negotiations to end UDI.
  2. Yes, but probably the AF lenses were right for you at that stage and the learning curve without them would likely have been harder.
  3. Seems to be a problem with the tie-break poll -- I only see the current tally and not a voting option. (Also the votes shown does not match the total number of votes displayed as cast).
  4. Somehow your post has come out as black on "almost black" which makes it rather hard to read! So I have taken the liberty of copy and pasting it via a regular text editor to remove the formatting. ....................................................................................................................................... Chasing the Light.....a story of two books...... Last Monday whilst in Leamington, and after visiting my brother in a nursing home, I had an hour to kill prior to a hair-cut appointment. I spent over half an hour over a coffee and a bun, then went to browse the Photography section in Waterstones book shop.....that did it....I left £20 lighter with a new book entitled...FOCUS....by John Neel...published by Ilex. It is an excellent up to date primer on all things ...Lenses, and Focus....including ...Tilt-Shift ...Focus Stacking and home made solutions. Then, a couple of hours ago I spotted a similar looking book called....CAPTURING LIGHT....by Michael Freeman.....also published by Ilex.....this one cost me just £4 so an absolute bargain. The first book is fine if you really want to brush up on lenses and focusing....but....the second....IS JUST TOO GOOD TO MISS.....it being a wide ranging, expertly written, beautifully presented and easy to understand explanation of ...HOW TO GET BEST USE OF LIGHT ....Light of all kinds.... I’m not usually one for book reviews, but, if you are serious about your photography....it is a MUST .....for you personal reference Library. Take a dekko on Amazon or even ABE Books to see what you can get one for.... FUJI
  5. Car park at work (29/9) -- nothing else round here seems quite ready yet.
  6. #60 -- Close up on nature (though there are others where it would also qualify)
  7. Won't be able to get up there, but do check out the Opera House if it's open. Hope it's OK to post images here, an old one taken before the awards ceremony of the G&S Festival in 2001.
  8. Congratulations Polly, an excellent image. Your turn now.
  9. A wide range of interpretation -- so make your selection.
  10. Growth Patterns C'mon folks lets get a few more.
  11. This week's challenge is "Wood". Made of wood, a wood, or ... All photos new or from the archives welcome.
  12. I think that's bit too new. It is the so-called "Champagne Aria" from Don Giovanni, in which he declares that his list of conquests will be about 10 names longer by tomorrow morning.
  13. An old one from '87—1787 that is. Both the (informal) title and the first stanza are referenced:
  14. Knockers-in ELT was my grandfather, SAW -- possibly my Mother's Godmother's Sister's Father in Law.
  15. R100 The new building where our test facilities and many of the engineers are located.
  16. Upper and Lower Slaughter (near Moreton in the Marsh).
  17. Former Department Store and the Bear Hotel, Wantage Market Place. Part of a test roll of HP5+ through a Moskva 5 that arrived last week.
  18. Is this what they mean by a feather in ones cap?
