  1. Yes, it's over 110 years old (the time of Teddy Roosevelt & Edward VII), and does a far better job of mixing bread than any electric mixer. I only noticed today that in 1906, the US patent office issued patents on Christmas Day! Not the greatest shots, but here's the result:
  2. It was in a charity store in Alamogordo, while I was living in New Mexico about ten years ago. Interestingly, the previous weekend, my electric mixer had started to smoke while mixing bread (high altitude and high torque electric motors don't mix well). Another few minutes before it's baked.
  3. More bread-related: My bread machine: During the first rise: About to get the dough out: Patents: And a gold medal:
  4. The real name is Larkdown, but someone had taped "oc" over the "ar".
  5. Buzzard over the back garden There was a red kite coming in spoiling for a fight but by the time they engaged they were well up the street:
  6. Homage to Edward Weston. Scotch Bonnet chillies in super-macro (Large format 90mm lens, extension about 270mm ⇒ magnification about 2). And a quick snap of the setup:
  7. Been working from home since Tuesday lunchtime, still mostly just getting stuff set up on my PC, rather than a rather long tunnel into my desktop PC in the office. I work in space physics and instrumentation, it's mostly number crunching. BTW: this may be of interest: https://emulsive.org/articles/darkroom/wet-plate/making-virus-a-tintype-stop-motion-animation
  8. And both on weekends too! Have got a bit of printing practice in though.
  9. #3 Letcombe Basset (repost) Zeiss Ikon Super Ikonta, Ilford FP4+
  10. Not been the best month for getting photos taken and processed. #1 Light on the Thames Minolta X500, Ilford Delta 400.
  11. Is and always will be (GPL licence). Another useful tool for that sort of thing might be Hugin. It's first and foremost a panorama stitcher, but also does HDR stacks. http://hugin.sourceforge.net/
  12. This article over at emulsive.org may be of interest: https://emulsive.org/articles/thoughts/is-black-and-white-photography-real-by-simon-king
  13. Sorry to hear that. My best wishes for a swift recovery too.

    hello

Hello & welcome. Looks like you're settling in OK. Don't think there are many other digital MF folks here, but it's the wide range that makes this group so keep on posting.
  15. #4: Wayland's Smithy, Entrance (26/1/20) Actually much older than Wayland, it's a neolithic long barrow. Intrepid 5x4, Schneider Super Angulon 90mm, Fomapan 400.
  16. #3: Grove Common Bridge, Wilts & Berks Canal. (18/1/20) Zeiss Ikon Super Ikonta 530/2, Catlabs X-film 80.
  17. King's Stone, Rollright Stones Bronica ETRS 200mm lens. Ilford Pan-F, Orange Filter Sepia tone & Vignette -- Gimp G'Mic plugins This was apparently the first ancient monument to be railed off to deter souvenir hunters.
