Napleon's Marshals. Now this is a BIG book. It gives a biography of all Bonaparte's "leadership" team. These guys, most of whom came from very poor backgrounds, rose to become big names in the Empire based upon their merit and not birth right.

I found this to be a very difficut choice from some great images. In the end I could not choose and so decided to sleep on it. With the help of the number of times the like button has been pressed for this shot I am going with Korky's "I've been to Y*rkshire!" Its a stunning shot. The only thing that I suspect Korky has got wrong is where the cloud has come from. I reckon it is actually drifting towards Lancashire! You can find the link to the original thread here.
