Prospect Tunnel

It was some time ago since I took these. A friend of mine got permission from the land owner to take a walk through this old unused railway tunnel near Harrogate. So wellies on, and off we went. We had a couple of flashlights with us. It was pretty grim and very wet but great fun.

Not too far from the entrance.

It is quite a long tunnel.

Wires are still attached to the wall. A reminder of how signals were operated mechanically before the current electronic push button world.

#2 - that light coming through the entrance (exit?), just brilliant.

Mind you - some love for #3 as well, from me!

Thanks Phon. It was a good adventure.

I,m with Chris Kev, its number one for me for the reasons Chris mentioned.

Much appreciated Ron.

To me, they are all great, all have been processed in a very thoughtful way, perhaps with the first having the edge.

Next time you get permission to walk through, have a couple of mates do the same from the other end.....but...lit will be you with the ....Stereo Recording of an express train;-)

Thanks FUJI. I won't be going back in a hurry. I was pretty wet and muddy when I got out of this place. Some huge puddles in there deeper than my wellies. :)

That was certainly a walk back in time, I love all the shots but if I had to choose, it would be no 2.
I can just imagine how it must have felt walking through the tunnel.

I am very nostalgic when it comes to stuff like this. I can't help thinking what it would have been like when in use.

Thanks Tina. I enjoyed walking through the tunnel although it was hard going at some points. I took the images more as a memory for myself than anything. It was good to see the old unused cables. I like the second one myself. I like the feint cob web in the bottom right corner of the frame.
