Paul McCartney: Kisses on the Bottom :

Still not over keen on his chosen album title but.....

The music is really appealing (as is most jazz) and the mono cinematography is right up my street.

All in all a very pleasant experience :)

How I wish myself and camera could have been in that recording studio........

If you believe McCartney is no longer interested in money you are living in "Cloud Cuckoo Land" Salvatore. These are quotes from the link below for a recent private party he did:-

"It is unclear how much Mr. McCartney earned for his performance, but music industry executives say that his asking price is well north of $1 million."

"Mr. McCartney and the other aging rockers who play these affairs are part of a growing cottage industry of stars that play private concerts for hire."

I am afraid with virtually all performers who are this age their voices have long since gone and they should accept retirement gracefully. To name a few from the past, Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra were "wheeled out on castor's" long after they should have been resting at home, and now Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdinck are also long past their sell-by date and only keep going through ego and because there are still people willing to pay for their name rather than their singing ability. The latter two only came back to the UK in hopes of earning more because they were "over the hill" in America after not bothering about originally deserting their UK fans for that previously more lucrative market, just as the Rolling Stones still have.

Not just me evidently, but their previous fans always see them through "rose tinted glasses" in their dotage, perhaps just reliving their own youth. However possibly through listening to over amplified music at home, at gigs or through earphones over the years, these fans are now hearing impaired anyway and so can't now tell whether their idols are in tune or not:-

Never could stand the Beatles full stop!

Me neither. They were coming to the end of the road by the time I was old enough to appreciate music but I always had a love of the Rolling Stones. Was a Mod when I lived in London (& the only Mod at our school in Bedford when we moved in '81) so I was more into the Madness, The Specials, The Jam, The Small Faces, The Animals and The Who etc.

Got myself a Cryin' Talkin' Livin' Doll

Gotta' do my best to please her

Livin' Doll

' 'twas on the Juke Box in the harbour side cafe at Wells- Next-The -Sea.......where my good lady and I camped under canvas long- long ago in the mists of time......We used to go into that cafe every lunchtime for tomato and cheese sandwiches and took enough sixpence s to feed the Jukebox.

Sorry annie... :guitar: I've been a fan of Cliff & The Shadows since they started in 1958/59 and this clip was recorded at their 50th anniversary concert at the O2 Arena in 2009. They hadn't played together for nearly 30 years and I think they are just as good now as they ever were and I think Cliff's voice is just as good as ever too.

Music is like wine or art......all down to personal taste :)

I'm a 50's child that cut his teeth on 60's music.

Pink Floyd has influenced my thought process for over 40yrs as their music has been both progressive rock and politically motivated for generations :)

70's brought with it glam rock (and some serious fashion) and the likes of cult heroes such as Marc Bolan.

80's the political spitting punk craze and the pogo !

90's saw the advent of tv show manufactured sheep music and well...

the naughties onwards haven't produced anything memorable (for me at least)

So before we start to name call just remember that history is something we can all share and enjoy irregardless of taste :)
