First stop of the day

First stop of today was a waterfall just off Thirlmere on the way down towards Ambleside.

The sun hadn't quite come up so longer exposure time were easy or more to the point we could use the ones we wanted. As we were searching for the best angle to shoot the waterfall the fells around us began to catch the sunlight. The head of the valley had sunlight spilling over and into it with a quite extraordinary light show.

Heading back to the car we spotted a group of tree that were itching to have their few seconds on fame.

A perfect start and the first four shots in the bag.

The waterfall shot just doesn't twang my braces I'm afraid - nowhere near up to your usual standard.

The remaining photographs are a different story, though. Three excellent shots, with the image of the silver birch trees coming out tops for me - a lovely composition of a subject that 95% of camera pointers wouldn't have pointed their camera at.

I wonder if number 2 could have had the sky teased out (to use a Fuji expression) a little more.

Thanks for the comments and likes.

Korky you might be right on the sky in number two as I spent a fair while last night going back and forth between edits. The original is very hazy as it was around half eight and the sun was just coming up out of the valley beyond and burning off a little left over mist. I can't decide if I want it looking soft and distant or with a bit more clout.

We shot a few other falls so I'll try to post a more BP type shot later :-)
