Rather than bore you all with photos from the Avro's Finest Meeting at Raf Waddington I will just post up this photo of the remaining flying Vulcan.

My parents lived in the Waddington low fields area of Lincoln and this War plane remains part of my youth during the Cold War years, we all knew what it carried but it was still a beautiful sight to see.

The last time I actually witnessed the Vulcan was at North Weald's 'Fighter Meet' before it retired for the first time. I am hoping to see her fly at Duxford in September. how long as it actually got left before becoming a museum piece again colin?

Colin, a Vulcan flew really low over here the other day, it was a truly wonderful sight to see, have not seen one for years, but where the blooming heck did it come from?

Annie you can find lots of info about the Vulcan and where it will be flying to/from  here - http://www.vulcantothesky.org/   (although I do think it is a very messy web page :hope: )

Love the Vulcan........great capture.

If any of you get the opportunity to visit an Air Museum with static display aircraft, and tyey have a grounded Vulcan, enquire if visitors are allowed to climb up into the cockpit.

A few years ago now, I was with a small group allowed to do this at Coventry Air Museum..........considering the huge size of the Vulcal, the cockpit and Navigator area is very tiny, not much bigger than the driving cab of a small lorry, as far as I recall, the pilots get in first then they open a trapdoor to allow room for the Navigator and Wireless Operator who works at a slightly different level, all crammed in for hours and hours.

The other striking thing are the tiny windows for the pilots to see out of, each one fitted with a concertina black blind to pull down as protection from the Nuclear Flash caused by their own bomb..........to imagine flying that huge plane, having only those tiny windows to see through is mind boggling, how they maunouvred it on the ground must have been hair raising too with that wingspan.

JUST FOUND THIS.

XL319 is at Sunderland in the Museum, have been in the cockpit there, its a surprisingly small space.

Absolutely love the Vulcan the display always gives me goosebumps.

I'm hoping to get myself on a hilltop near Windermere for the 2 lancs in early September
