CONTROLLED APPROACH

Recommended Posts

This is one for Jeremy and Leon to ponder as they munch their respective cornflakes this morning ;-)

Insect Macro boring compared to capturing cars moving in a predictable direction bumbing over a kerb at 70-90 mph???

KIds stuff!!   :yes

Try this.............................Stop a  Bumble Bee flying in a completely random manner at 80mph plus, in mid-air.

This one-eyed old fogey just did it..............not to show off but to prove that insects in flight can be just as challenging as shooting anything moving at a fast rate of knots.

My technique for this, is to stand perfectly still, where bees of all kinds are busy doing what busy bees do.....I focus on one as soon as it lands, then wait in expectation to GUESS when it might fly backwards up and out of that flower.....a lot like a helicopter does.

I end up with lots of pictures of empty flowers, but when Im lucky, this happens, focus and timing click together.......this is one of three others yet to be processed:

NO exhaust fumes, no trackside passes, no equipment envy........just me....and the Birds and Bees.

A great capture FUJI... I agree with every word you say, I have spent hours doing the same kind of thing myself and enjoyed every minute of the challenge. Considering the problems you have had with your eyes you have done an amazing job.

Here's some of my efforts, I don't like hijacking other members posts by showing actual images, so here are some links if you want a look.

I do know what you mean, but I often feel it's the only way to get people to notice mine. :(
