FUNGAL FEAST....?

Recommended Posts

Out walking on our local Common the other day we chanced upon these three distinctly different Fungi lying together in the leaf litter.....my walking buddy picked up, then confirmed that the LH one was an edible mushroom, but couldn't positively identfy the others:

Thus was raised a mystery..they hadn't grown there (roots aren't in ground).....Had they been picked on the common for a meal then discarded because of uncertainty?..........Had someone purchased them, then laid them there in the hopes that others might grow there in the future?

What you see here is exactly what we saw.......any other speculation?

Exactly as shot, no cropping, just my usual CS3 Processing:

I guess someone had picked them and because of uncertainty about whether they were mushrooms or not they just dropped them, it may have been kids. I hate seeing this sort of behavior, I've often come across wild flowers such as Bluebells and Daffodils that had been picked and then dropped, it's a shame that things like this can't be left alone to finish their natural cycle.

Thanks John.

I agree.

By the way.......Your AVATAR worries me ;-)

I've been having computer problems and I have been using my laptop and netbook for about a week, hopefully I finally fixed my computer last night and all seems well this morning. My avatar was how I felt a few days ago... I'll leave for now and change it if my computer is still OK in a week or so.
