Hoghton Bottoms through the Hoghton Tower Viaduct.

This is a spectacular section of the River Darwen, where a picturesque sandstone gorge leads to a tumbling weir and the 108-foot (33 m) high Hoghton Bottoms Viaduct towers above. The weir sits at the top of the sandstone gorge - the only feature of its type in the Ribble Catchment - and it is crossed by the Hoghton Tower Viaduct. The weir is a famous local landmark and is easily accessible thanks to a public footpath running alongside the river.

One place close by is Hollinshead Hall and Well House there are a few parking spaces on the A675, just off Junction 3 of the M65. Roddlesden Wood is very nice in the Autumn, me and Korky went there one time.

The hall looks interesting - no way to go inside I suppose...

You can walk around the ruins of the hall, the Well House is normally locked but I have seen video's of people going inside it, I guess they must open it occasionally.
