The old mill race.

Managed a short lunchtime walk yesterday, along a river bank. There is a flour mill down the track and this is the start of the mill race (no longer used):

 

 

Just upstream there is a weir and it's from there the water is split into two streams:

 

 

 

 

 

Fancy me having the opportunity to do this!!:

 

 

 

Further up the race the water is still and the area overgrown:

 

 

 

 

This is a view of the Loddon River, where the race water comes from, as it cruises on its way:

Annie there is a designated swimming area further upstream from the weir - well used too!

I really like the fourth image, looks very calm and inviting .....until you wonder what nasty 'orrids are probably lurking in the undergrowth!

Thanks all. Denis you are probably right - the water is very still and green!! Doesn't get flushed very often.
