This is a sequence from mid 2004, all taken with a Canon EOS 300D and Tamron 28-300XR lens @ 300mm - all pictures are full frame, the only adjustments have been RAW conversions, levels and a bit of USM.

I was walking to work along a farm path and spotted a moving dot on the path at the bottom of the hill. It must have been 80-100m away at least (maybe someone can guestimate from the fact this is uncropped. 300mm @ 1.6 cropping so effective 480mm zoom)

I froze on the spot when I realised it was a hare. I may live in the country but I still don't see them very often.

He was just dashing about and pausing to look around. He must have seen me but since I wasn't moving he ignored me.

He came closer and closer with his playing...

By this stage I was afraid to move even to change zoom since it would have spooked him.

and finally, he was so close he was too large to fit in the frame.

Then he realised I wasn't actually a lump of farm machinery and made a very swift exit to the nearest field.

Brilliant Bugs.......

They are funny critters to watch. I used to love seeing them where I worked at Abbington on the Business Park...for some reason the place seemed to have more than it's fair share of them.
