HOAR FROST WINTER 2010

FUJI

Recommended Posts

I took this shot in December 2010, I returned to it today after browsing old files.

It was taken with my little LX5 compact camera..................The next day a picture from just along the road was published in the Daily Mail, I did see the photographer with his tripod and Pro DSLr:

Converted then processed in CS6:

Best viewed LARGE......Click on Pic:

I read the Daily Mail, Chris, together with The a Times, The Express, The Independant and the Telegraph.....the only newspapers I avoid are the Sun and the Star........I don't read them all at the same time, just mix-n-match, which means I am aware of all sides.

My post is to do with photography not which way I lean.......the strongest trees are those that bend all ways in the wind, but remain upright regardless of storms........Please don't take this as a negative response, but coming from ancestors who were working class through and through, who had been through a life of hard knocks, I hardly believe in ANYTHING the medi puts out.

Life is too short, sit back and enjoy the coffee...............relax and absorb the frosty scene above......then go forth to record the beauties of nature or the quirks of life.

Oh, you're absolutely right. And don't get me wrong - I have no particular feelings about the Daily Mail -

apart from its being a xenophobic, anti-semitic, Muslim-baiting, populist, sh*t-stirring, poisonous, Fascist-leaning, excuse for a piece of used toilet paper, that is...

But you're right. Life's too short. Getting back to your shot, it's gorgeous, really nice. However, do I detect the dreaded Lumix frogspawn in the sky? It's the worst fault of my FZ and I had thought that upgrading to a LX might cure it.. but possibly not so?

Aha! ......A Socialist Worker......reader?........;-)

Please explain the Lumix Frogspawn......what I think you see in the sky is possibly a combination if mono processing plus the effects of reduction for posting.

A picture paints a thousand words.. (it's most evident in low light and at the far end of telephoto - this picture is zoomed right out).

You might just call it noise, but the Lumix noise has a kind of 'clumped' effect that looks vaguely like frogspawn.

All I can do is agree with what's been said already................. The Daily Mail is a load of old tosh.

A very nice image, Fooj - just viewing has made me send Mrs K out for another shovel of coal.

No idea why, but whenever I do a B&W conversion, skies always look noisy no matter what. I can have a lovely blue sky that looks perfect, but as soon as it's turned mono, the evil blobs seem to take over.

At first I thought it was one of those infra red images where all the greens come out white. Nice shot Fuji!

...and there is nothing wrong with the Daily Mail that a large portion of chips with plenty of salt 'n' vinegar and a battered jumbo sausage won't fix! :pizza:
