Killing Time

Had to take the car in for its first MOT this morning - it passed - so had some time to kill.

Took a wander along the road to St Paul's at Jarrow (the one Bede knocked about in) and rattled off a few iPhone shots.

The river by the church is....well....lets just say a bit grim.

That said there was a heron fishing, plenty of ducks and even a squirrel.

Very, its a tributary of the Tyne and only a few miles up from the mouth. It wasn't quite at its lowest but was still fairly manky and smelled of greasy waste.

Shame as the surrounding area though intensely industrialised has some protected spots that are doing well. Never thought i would see a squirrel there.
