A Nice Find....

Walked around my daughter's block yesterday and discovered this. It's a tiny orchid, only about 10mm in total height, and I nearly stepped on them, but when I spotted one I just had to grab a shot. I have now identified them as  Common Bird Orchids, although according to an identification book they are NOT common!!:

You can see how they got their name, just like a baby bird, asking for food!

Thanks, all.

Paul I marked the spot on daughter's block and yes, she is going to try to transplant one or two, (there were only about a dozen), and see if she can nurture them on. If she is successful I will be getting at least one to try up here. Won't survive in our harsh conditions, but might manage in our shade house conditions and I would love it!!

some Lily,s are poisonous. Do you know if these little ones are.

Can't find anything that indicates this, Tina, and they are so tiny they would only be grown in pots - you'd very easily lose them otherwise. Hopefully we can give it a go.
