A FASCINATING GLIMPSE.... in to Shawls, Clogs, Trams and smoking mill chimneys

What a fabulous look into the past Fooj ... tells you more about our social history than  any pages of a school text book doesn’t it ..  I loved all the narratives available when you watched carefully .. the fascination everyone, young and old, had with seeing a Fooj doppelgänger on the streets with a camera; the two blokes outside a factory deciding to take off their hats and jackets while they squared up to one another under Queensbury rules ; the kids playing leapfrog for the benefit of the camera; the women all sporting heavy shawls to keep out the cold and  the firemen called out and then taking five minutes to get the horses tethered up to the fire engine before setting off no doubt to save a life or a property ... Absolutely brilliant bit of film.. I could spend all day watching stuff like this ... thanks Fooj ..

There are quite a few of these available Polly.... the film makers were very enterprising.

Their ploy was to widely advertise the fact that they would be filming in a certain city or town on a particular day.... movies were in their infancy so the whole thing was a house novelty and draw for all ages and classes.

Also on the advertising was that films shot, would be shown in the local cinema’s or suitable halls....

fascinating stuff
