I do wonder sometimes how "down and out" these people are, a few years ago near christmas a guy asked me for £2, I asked what he would buy with it, he said a hot drink or food.

on my way back out of the supermarket I called at McD's bought him a meal and hot chocolate, he genuinely looked grateful.

For me, number 1 is the strongest image - it has a real feel of despair about it and the empty bottle just adds to that feel.

Something along the lines of Fooj's black and white technique would really give it some zip.

Wonder if the guy in the last photo made the first guy move ? or if he just got up and went when he woke up

On the subject it's not good that some people live like that make me sad for them

Quite a few of these people are professional beggars, I knew of a bloke from my town who caught the tube from Epping into London every day for ten months.

He used to claim that he could 'take' nearly £200 a day from tourists and day trippers and was only caught when a couple who had given him £5 for a meal and drink shared a carriage back to Loughton with him. They reported him to the police who picked him up at Epping station and stopped him outside when he was getting into his Audi.

He only got a suspended sentence and had to pay £50 costs to a Victims fund.
