To say I'm like a kid at Christmas is an understatement.

It was upgrade time for my mobile contract and as I don't use a Mac or iPad I decided to have a complete change from the iPhone and go with the Lumia 925 running Windows Phone 8. I've had Nokias for 15 years prior to the iPhone so I knew the build quality wouldn't be an issue. I really like Windows 8 on the laptop, now everything is linked and updated across the board, and I can put stuff on my phone that I want to use and not be restricted by Apple!

Even after 3 years with an iPhone I still don't understand how iTunes works. :)

First impressions, it is bloody fantastic! :yes

The OS is always gonna be down to personal preference, I was happy enough with the iPhone itself but the Nokia has opened up a whole new world.

We got our daughter an Android phone for Xmas and we really can't get on with it at all, but that is down to us having iPhones for so long. She has now inherited my iPhone and the Samsung is on eBay.

We are very happy with our Galaxy S2's, and the Android system fits in very well with our geocaching hobby. Must admit I haven't even looked at Win 8, as yet. I suppose we will have to someday. I know some who love it, some who hate it.

I must be boring too then, John. lol. as that's all I do with my phone.

Up until now, I have only bought phones to do a job, but last year my daughter-in-law gave me her Blackberry Curve and this year I think my sone  is giving me his last years phone, so I get upgraded for nothing lol.
I would rather spend my money on my hobby. ;)

If you take, edit, host and post a good photograph using only your new toy I shall forgive your plunge into the Windows abyss.

Now that is a challenge I must take up using only my HTC TRophy...................

I just KNEW you would come out fighting your corner Robin: :yes

In all honesty the camera on my phones never gets used, mainly just the video but, I will accept the challenge newfight.gif

Microsoft is expecting Windows smartphones on the market in the near future for $100-$150 (£65.71p-£98.56p), though usually American Dollar prices are the same in Pounds when they get to the UK.

However I can see the smartphone going the way of the desk top computer and digital camera in future where most people decided their present device gave them everything they wanted and so stopped upgrading so frequently.
