Another frame from my trip to Coventry City Centre yesterday.........................This is in the very heart of the City's Circular Retail Market; a very 1950s-1960s design:

I don't know why but I experimented with my Panasonic LX5 on P Mode........I wish I hadn't......Does Anyone use it????....and why???

THis poor old fella stood for ages holding his bunch of banana's out....the stall-holder didn't seem to notice him.........A moment in Time:

Very well observed, although I find it makes slightly uncomfortable viewing simply because he looks as if he's being ignored and that shouldn't happen to anyone, especially someone of his obvious years.

Reading your note also says that's what happened. I hope it wasn't deliberate on the part of the stallholder.

As a documentary picture I think it's quite powerful, just from the way it made me think about it. Well done!

Good shot, Fuji.

you get some some stall holders who are like that and yet other can be very polite and helpful.

If they don't  serve me in turn, I dump my veg or fruit on the counter and go to another stall.

If the foreign stall holders are polite and have taken the time to learn the word "Thankyou" in out language, I will use them again but if they don't speak the language and haven't taken the time to learn that one word, then they shouldn't be taking out money.

Off my soapbox now lol.

I too have experimented with 'P' for when I'm not too concerned about DoF etc. but more interested in ensuring I get the shot without having to think about settings. It can be very useful and well worth remembering when things start getting a little frantic.

Why do you wish you hadn't used it?

Hi, Phil,

Thanks for your comment and observations.................P Mode, is the one I had never bothered with previously, I wasn't too sure what it might do, so I took a chance.....it seemed to be working just fine whilst out, but seeing my files on the PC made me wonder.....The two posted were the best of quite a noisy bunch:

I might have another go, when I have learned more about its shortcomings:

Cheers!

I can't see anything wrong with the shot itself FUJI... as you said it's a moment in time that you have caught very well, the only thing wrong is the stall holder ignoring the old gentleman. To the casual observer this is not really shown in the image itself as the stall holder may have just been looking the other way momentarily.

It's a good shot and a good quality one too, Fuji.
I use the P mode on my Olympus compact as I prefer that to using the scene settings.
I can adjust the exposure and ISO in this mode which makes a difference.

I bought a roll over case/cover which screws into the tripod socket, so I carry it on a long metal cord around my neck and is very quick and easy to flik out ready to shoot when I don't want to carry a bigger camera around.

Very good to have a small camera at hand when you are out to do something else at the time.
