I rang my insurance company asking for a quote, Told them what we had and they had to itemise all bodies and lens and replacement costs at todays prices (£12,500 ouch) that didnt include tripods, cards, filters, bags etc good news it only put the house ins up by £30 per year

it's surprising how many people are under insured ...  We  ring our  insurance lady every time we buy something over a certain price  now to check if we need to add  to the premium .... and get it confirmed in writing ... Some of them  will find any excuse not to pay out if you are unfortunate enough to have to claim ... having said that  I am glad that they are cautious as there are people  out  there who not think twice about  dishonestly claiming  for  things  ....and that  just puts our premiums up  too!

I did the same when I got my camera/lenses, I added them to my house insurance and also covers me for accidental damage, lost or stolen up to £6000 when out of the house. My insurance guy says the same thing, that most people are under insured. A few years back I upped my contents cover from £50,000 to £125,000
