I'm not completely sure about this one, Chris. I think it's because the background is overly bright and the main subject doesn't stand out enough.

It could be my naff colour vision, so it'll be interesting to see what others think.

I quite like the colour mix.  The light orange browns against the blue are quite satisfying but the branch across the bottom and the highlights on the left don't add anything.  It might be worth trying crop bottom and left.

Thanks for the feedback. Points noted, I've re-cropped and lifted the image a little. Better?

One thing I've noted is the decreased image contrast in thead view compared to clicking on the actual image. Is this a forum limitation? The background highlights are brightly lit catkins which I tried to make a feature, in hindsight a shorter focal length and higher f-stop was needed.

To my eyes, the edit looks so much better. It's lifted the image to a new level.

I must admit to preferring the edit too. You're right there is quite a difference between the image in the thread and the larger view one.
