Our weekend away that didn't happen........

Set off in good spirits this morning, with the camper. Drove about 300 klms to where Hubby picked Kelly up from last year. We called in to see the lady who bred them, had a nice chat, left her some lovely photos of Kelly growing up, and headed off again to our destination.  THEN - for the very first time - the range Rover let us down!!!!!  Something under the bonnet shorted out, causing several noisy backfires, blowing a couple of pipes off, and running rough, almost like it's on gas and petrol at the same time.  We pulled in to a stop off spot and this is the only exciting picture I got:

Couldn't get things sorted, so we rang the lady back, asked if we could leave the camper there, as we thought we could get home without the extra load on the engine. Sooo, we headed home again - very carefully and cautiously. We had to get the Rangy home to get it fixed in our own time, and especially because, being Good Friday nothing is open, so we couldn't do it on the run!! 600 klms and we didn't even get to see the mountains we were headed for.

So be it. I was going to post a couple of shots from our last trip to the camping spot, but now we have to drive another 300 klm tomorrow or Sunday, to pick up the camper, and if we go in one of the other cars we may still be able to go on to get there, even if only for a few hours.

Guess what we're both doing, slurp, slurp.

PS: the girls were excellent and are now relaxed on our bed. Kelly is saying to hersefl: "Well if that's holidays, I don't think much of it!"

Decided to have a day at home today, to stretch the doggie's legs on a nice walk, and so we can do something active as well, rather than another 7 - 8 hours in the car. Probably go tomorrow for the camper.

Denis, this particular vehicle has never been a problem since we got it. The only thing is that most ' rural based local' mechanics take one look and pale at the sight. It has a 4.2 litre Ritter motor that was imported, brand new, from the factory in UK by the previous owner. The motor was fitted by a specialist company over here, but not out in the sticks, like we are. David will be having a proper look today, and we'll see how we go, but we'll probably have to wait until the Easter break is over, if we need any parts.

Such is life, and that's also the reason we run 3 vehicles, we do need backup in situations like this. Looks like a good gardening day!
